The Guide can’t resist Nokia’s 8800 series. We swooned over the original, were impressed by the improved Arte version, and now Nokia unleases this little beast on us.

What’s new compared to the 8800 Arte? Not a great deal. They’ve upped the on-board storage and added carbon fibre exterior.

But the 8800 has never been about technical specs. Reading about it doesn’t do it justice. The appeal of these phones is all about the tactile joy of holding and operating them. When you do, their sheer, unadulterated quality makes a huge impression.

Truly Prodigal objects of desire.
