New video reveals more details on the glorious Palm Pre

It’s no secret that The Guide is giddy like a schoolgirl at the thought of the new Palm Pre.
This stunning device is currently fighting it out with the Nokia N97 for the title of our most hotly anticipated ‘phone. And we don’t mind telling you, with the video that Palm have just released showing some previously unseen new functionality, the Pre just landed an impressive blow.
As we’ve come to expect from demonstrations of the Pre, the software is smooth and glitch-free in this new video. That’s impressive for any device that is still months away from production but particularly one built on a brand new and ground-breaking operating system. In the video you’ll notice a couple of very slick and very innovative features – most of which highlight how integrated the whole software package is. Notice, for example, the way the calendar is populated with weather information, or the way that your business and personal diaries are combined into one. You’ll also see how the calendar and contacts are seamlessly connected. When you look at a meeting entry, you’ll see which of your contacts have accepted to attend the meeting but also whether or not they are currently online. Finally, the new web browser functionality also looks impressive. When, for example, you choose to share a webink with someone via email, the device automatically attaches a screenshot of the the page to your message.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this puppy is looking very exciting indeed. Mobile World Congress 2009 kicks off in Barcelona tomorrow and we’re expecitng Palm to be using the opportunity to announce the GSM version together with expected availability dates. We can’t wait.
