A Prodigal May

Here’s our monthly roundup of what we’ve been writing about and what you’ve been reading. The top ten most popular posts of April were:
At number 9 – Why we hate the Toyota Prius – In which we vent some pent up frustration at the ignorance and smugness of most Prius drivers. Oh…and there’s a funny YouTube clip in there too but we’re sure that has nothing to do with the post’s popularity.
At number 8 – Nokia’s tempting little brick: The E90 – An old post that we assume has garned new interest with the release of the E75 that Nokia claims is a new ‘baby Communicator’. Well, to true Communicator fans, the E90 still reigns and here’s our take on it.
At number 7 – Repeat after us: Byron is Best for Burgers, Byron is Best for Burgers, Byron is Best… – Last month’s number 1, in which the astonishing pulling power of the humble burger is demonstrated both by a popular post and a phenomenally satisfying restaurant experience. Truly one of the best burgers in London (we haven’t yet tried a Hawksmoor burger.)
At number 6 - News from MWC ‘09: The Nokia E71 evolves into two very sleek, but very different, E-series devices – Last month’s second most popular post, in which we comment on the unveiling at Mobile World Congress of two new smartphones from Nokia: the diminuative E55 and the ‘baby communicator’ E75.
At number 5 - A cosmopolitan night at the perfectly British Hereford Road – In which The Guide persuades two doubting Sicilians that there is such a thing as good British food after all.
At number 4 - Rolex Sea-Dweller: The most over-engineered timepiece in the world – In which we rave about one of our all-time favourite watches. This little chap is over-engineered to the point of insanity, supremely confident in its almost unparalleled abilities, and has some subtle styling cues to distinguish it from the ’sea’ of Submariners out there. The Sea-Dweller is a Prodigal watch.
At number 3 – Make way iPhone 3G, here’s the Nokia E71 – One of our older posts, in which we explain why, on release, we thought the Nokia E71 narrowly beat the iPhone for title of best smartphone in the world.
At number 2 – Pure watch pornography: Jake’s Rolex Watch Blog – In which amateur bloggers likes us discover the ability of one little word in your title to keep those hits coming. A well deserved plug for Jake’s Rolex Watch Blog, a great source of Rolex watch information and photography.
And the most read post in May…
At number 1 – Nokia E75: A tangible step up from the E71 but its marred by quality problems – Attracting four times more readers than the number two post, our review of Nokia’s latest smartphone proved very popular last month. We’re impressed with it but it’s not perfect and ours left the factory with some quality problems.
