The Perrelet Turbine XL in action (video)

By , published on 22 November 2010

We mentioned the Perrelet Turbine XL in our SalonQP highlights post but then, through our hungover haze, we suddenly remembered that we’d taken some video of it in action too. We just couldn’t resist sharing it with you. The Perrelet blurb says:

The cases with their fluid and dynamic lines, in DLC steel, titanium or pink gold house the technology of the Double Rotor, once again featured to advantage. The 12 turbine blades in titanium, which seem to be designed to slice through the air, slip under the black interior flange. The optical impact of this unique and unusual watchmaking speciality is even greater….

But those are just words. No, you have to see this thing in action to appreciate it. So, what are you waiting for? Hit the play button below and feast your eyes on the little marvel.

Our editor-in-chief, the self-proclaimed "greatest wit, raconteur and bon vivant of our age", borders on delusional. Over the years, The Fool has squandered more money on fast cars, Swiss watches and electronic gadgetry of all kinds than he – or his bank manager – cares to remember. Come nightfall, he can invariably be found stumbling out of Dukes mumbling “just one more Martini; I could have handled just one mmmmm… [thud!]”

The cradle-nurtured fascination with colourful spinning objects apparently does not fade.

Thanks for the video! The rotation was different than I had expected — blades were rotating very fast. Still not sure how I feel about the watch, but definitely unique.

I played with this watch at Jura in London a couple of months ago. Gimicky but fun.
