SalonQP 2011 highlights: The Piaget Emperador dual time and another man’s wife
By The Editors, published on 21 November 2011
At some point during the VIP soirée hosted by SalonQP 2011, one-half of your editorial team found himself upstairs on the Piaget stand with another man’s wife. To be more precise, Straight-Six was holding a watch to her delicate wrist while trying very hard to restrain himself. The presence of the ever-grinning lady’s husband no doubt helped to ensure that things remained steady and serene, but the timepiece in question was an altogether different story.
Yes, the Piaget Emperador dual time in white gold may possess a ponderous name, but it definitely caught our attention and established itself as one of the few woman’s timepieces that have impressed us over recent months. And the lady modeling it was quite fetching too, but no more on that given her man is a financial heavy-hitter with white teeth that can blind you from one hundred paces.
Anyways, the cushion-shaped Piaget Emperador with the self-winding 850P movement seduced all three of us by sufficiently reigning in the brand’s habitual ostentatious approach toward women’s timepieces through the use of discreet greys and spot-on accents that delivered presence and elegance. In other words, it all came together quite beautifully. And we need more of these confident, balanced pieces for women and less of the generic man wanna-be offerings, or tiny tots that absolutely no-one can read.
And while the GBP 20,000 price-tag means another bonus is required before the delightful dame might enjoy a piece such as this, we’re sure it’s given her husband something to aspire to over the difficult months that no doubt lay ahead.
Best of luck, old boy!

ahem…
The Altiplano got me to their booth, the Emperador got me to stick around.
(And making sure the watch went back in its case, rather than stay on a certain lady’s wrist, made me almost miss the rest of the event.)
Nice write-up and video. Up until now, I thought of Piaget as a brand straight out of the original Wall St. movie, something that was fancy in the 80s but now something of an anachronism.
Dare I say: no longer.
